Albums for Summer

Posted on 11.02.2010 under Music News

  • Powderfinger: Golden Rule

Get ready for festival season with Powderfinger’s 5th album Golden Rule. The Aussie favourites are headlining Homebake and Big Day Out this summer and from what we’ve heard from ‘All Of The Dreamers’ and ‘ Burn Your Name’, this album is set to rock through summer and right into 2010.

  • Robbie Williams: Reality Killed The Video Star

Robbie Williams brings us his first studio album in three years, featuring the singles ‘Bodies’ and ‘You Know Me’. Following his whirlwind visit downunder and sizzling performance at the Aria’s, this album is sure to be popping up in Christmas stockings everywhere.

  • John Mayer: Battle Studies

Chill out with the latest from the crooner melting hearts the world over. Though the album seems to be themed around war (tracks such as ‘Heartbreak Warfare’, ‘War of my Life’ and ‘Assassin’), Mayer says it’s more like a heartbreak handbook. Highlights include ‘Perfectly Lonely’ and ‘Friends, Lovers, or Nothing’.

  • Wolfmother: Cosmic Egg

Described as ‘cinematic’ and ‘epic’, Cosmic Egg is the highly anticipated album from Wolfmother’s new line up. Andrew Stockdale’s wailing vocal is ever present, especially on ‘New Moon Rising’. New single ‘White Feather’ has an 80’s rock vibe and is sure to be a summer hit.

  • Paramore: Brand New Eyes

Frontwoman Hayley Williams is known for her fiery hair and attitude, showcased in the band’s recent single ‘Ignorance’. Brand New Eyes features lots of tracks punched with energy, as well as a few slower, melodic tracks such as ‘Only Exception’ and ‘Misguided Ghosts’. Twilight fans will enjoy the inclusion of ‘Decode’. Catch Paramore in February when they head down under for Soundwave Festival and side shows!

  • Orianthi: Believe

Michael Jackson hand picked her to be his guitarist for his ‘This Is It’ tour and Adelaide born Orianthi shows she has the pipes to match her guitar skills.  Girl power single ‘According To You’ has been burning up the airwaves, while the rest of the album has a rockier vibe.

  • Vanessa Amorosi: Hazardous

Pop powerhouse Vanessa shows us who she is with her latest album. After a decade in the industry, recent single ‘This Is Who I Am’ has been her biggest success to date, and says the rest of the album reveals all the unseen aspects of her personality. ‘It’s about the struggle I had with accepting with being different and individual’ she says.
